Sunrise Health Service has been operating since 2003 and is the second largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in the Northern Territory.
Based in Katherine (only 3 hours drive from Darwin), Sunrise Health Service services 9 remote communities to the east of Katherine. We serve a population base, predominantly Aboriginal of approximately 3,800 people - many with chronic illnesses requiring early detection and amelioration.
It is important that our staff embrace the intent of our organisational plan - the Sunrise Way and work with the Board, communities and management team to deliver family-based services that address not only medical needs but the social determinants of health as well.

Remote Area Nurses
The Remote Area Nurse will assist other team members within the Health Centre to provide the highest possible standard of culturally appropriate health care including building the capacity of Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) staff. The role includes working with other health care professionals, both internal and external; to ensure a focus of Primary Health Care approach to health care is achieved, but also participate in an on-call roster for acute and emergency presentations after-hours.

Remote General Practitioners
General Practitioners (GP’s) work as members of a multi-disciplinary team, led by the Director of Public Health and Planning (DPHP). The role involves direct provision of General Practice Services, support for and sharing of skills with other team members and participation in key primary health care initiatives and community consultation.

Training Support Officer
The Training Support Officer will be responsible for inducting, supporting, and training the community-based ancillary employees in the efficient and effective use of Sunrise Health Service process, policy and systems. Induction, training and support of the non-clinical roles is crucial to the smooth running of the clinics in facilitating culturally appropriate care and can be key in facilitating best practice care by clinicians. The role will support and train staff through the change management of policy and process and administrate and report on the mandatory training requirements and Learning Management System across the organisation.

Registered Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP)
The Role
Registered Aboriginal Health Practitioners work with other clinical professionals to provide acute care and accident and emergency care. Working with other health care professionals, both internal and external to Sunrise, to achieve positive outcomes in overall levels of health and well-being within the community while building the capacity within the clinic to provide the highest possible standard of culturally appropriate health care.

Training Business Manager
The Training Business Manager will grow the RTO training services across the region in collaboration with the Executive Manager of Corporate Services. The role plays a central part in developing, implementing, managing and reporting robust and effective compliance, quality and risk management frameworks and practices within the RTO.

Diabetes Educator
